Wiltshire County Council is the local authority which governs the non-metropolitan county of Wiltshire in South West England. Since 2009 it has been a unitary authority, having taken over district-level functions when the county’s districts were abolished.
During its renovations the team at Wiltshire Council were looking to transform an existing warehouse space to further expand its essential secure storage and provide expanded archives.
The Westbury warehouse featured a large open, ground floor office and canteen, which the council required transforming into an efficient, made-to-measure secure storage area. They also required a safe and secure storage solution for confidential items.
Having heard about Rackline’s expertise in the area it was decided to engage with its teams and look at potential solutions.
Rackline visited the site several times, working directly with the council teams to create designs and provide a clear view of the options available.
The impressive height of the space was identified as a bonus, and taller storage units were designed to free up more floor space for staff.
Another key factor to consider was the utilisation by other departments for stock holding, which had put strain on previous storage areas. This was included in the calculations and included in the required capacity.
This resulted in the creation of a secure storage zone, with a custom manufactured caged area with coded door and a selection of Rackline’s SpeedRax shortspan shelving
Following the installation at our Westbury warehouse, the racking has made a huge difference to how the warehouse staff organise and hold stock from external sites, allowing safe storage under one roof.
